Women in Neurotech Membership Terms & Conditions

Welcome to Women in Neurotech (“WINT,” “we,” “our,” or “us”). By joining our community, attending events, participating in discussions, or using our website and services, you agree to the following Membership Terms & Conditions.

These Terms are intended to help maintain a respectful, educational, and professional community environment.

1. Community Purpose

The explanations and information provided on this page are only general and high-level explanations and information on how to write your own document of Terms & Conditions. 2. Eligibility

By joining WINT, you confirm that:

  • You are at least 18 years old, or have permission from a parent or legal guardian.

  • The information you provide is accurate to the best of your knowledge.

  • You will participate respectfully and professionally within the community.

WINT reserves the right to deny, suspend, or revoke membership at any time and for any reason, including conduct that violates these Terms or is harmful to the community.

3. Code of Conduct

Members agree to:

  • Treat others respectfully and professionally.

  • Avoid harassment, discrimination, hate speech, threats, intimidation, or abusive conduct.

  • Avoid spam, solicitation, or unauthorized promotion.

  • Respect differing viewpoints and backgrounds.

  • Maintain appropriate behavior during online and in-person events.

WINT reserves the right to remove content, restrict participation, suspend accounts, or terminate membership at its sole discretion.

4. Educational & Informational Purposes Only

Content shared through WINT, including events, discussions, presentations, workshops, online materials, or community conversations, is provided for general educational and informational purposes only.

WINT does not provide:

  • medical advice

  • mental health advice

  • legal advice

  • investment advice

  • employment guarantees

  • professional certification

Members should independently evaluate any information shared within the community before relying on it.

5. No Professional Relationship

Membership in WINT does not create:

  • an employment relationship

  • partnership

  • agency relationship

  • fiduciary relationship

  • mentorship obligation

  • professional-client relationship

Participation in the community is voluntary and informal.

6. Member Content and Community Discussions

Members are solely responsible for the content they post, share, upload, or communicate.

By submitting content within WINT platforms or events, you grant WINT a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, display, reproduce, and distribute such content for community, educational, promotional, or operational purposes, unless otherwise agreed in writing.

Members agree not to post content that:

  • infringes intellectual property rights

  • violates confidentiality obligations

  • contains unlawful material

  • includes malicious software or harmful code

7. Privacy and Data

WINT may collect limited information such as:

  • name

  • email address

  • professional interests

  • location

  • membership preferences

We will make reasonable efforts to protect member information but cannot guarantee absolute security of online systems or communications.

By participating in WINT, you acknowledge that:

  • online communications may not be fully secure

  • third-party platforms may be used for events or communication

  • information voluntarily shared in community spaces may be visible to others

WINT will not knowingly sell member personal information.

8. Events and Participation

Participation in WINT events, whether virtual or in-person, is voluntary and at your own risk.

WINT is not responsible for:

  • travel issues

  • technical issues

  • third-party platforms

  • personal injury

  • property damage

  • disputes between members

  • networking outcomes

  • employment opportunities or losses

Event schedules, speakers, and programming may change without notice.

9. Photography, Video, and Recordings

WINT events may occasionally be photographed or recorded for educational, archival, marketing, or promotional purposes.

By attending events, you grant WINT permission to use your likeness, voice, image, or submitted materials in connection with community-related content unless you explicitly request otherwise in writing before the event.

10. Intellectual Property

All WINT branding, logos, graphics, website materials, educational materials, and original content are the property of Women in Neurotech unless otherwise stated.

Members may not reproduce, distribute, or commercially use WINT materials without prior written permission.

11. Third Party Links and Resources

WINT may share links, tools, resources, job postings, or third-party opportunities for convenience and educational purposes.

WINT does not endorse or guarantee:

  • third-party organizations

  • products

  • services

  • job opportunities

  • research claims

  • safety or effectiveness of technologies

Members engage with third parties at their own discretion and risk.

12. Disclaimer of Warranties

WINT and its services are provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied.

We do not guarantee:

  • uninterrupted access

  • accuracy of information

  • availability of events

  • networking outcomes

  • career advancement

  • technical reliability

  • member behavior

13. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Women in Neurotech, its founders, organizers, volunteers, affiliates, chapter leaders, contributors, and participants shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages arising out of or related to participation in the community, events, communications, or services.

Total liability, if any, shall not exceed the amount paid by the member to WINT within the prior twelve months, or USD $50, whichever is less.

14. Indemnification

Members agree to indemnify and hold harmless Women in Neurotech and its organizers, volunteers, affiliates, and representatives from claims, liabilities, damages, losses, expenses, or legal fees arising from:

  • violation of these Terms

  • misuse of the community

  • unlawful conduct

  • infringement of third-party rights

  • member-submitted content

15. Chapter Leadership

Local chapter organizers and volunteers act independently and are not employees, agents, or legal representatives of WINT unless explicitly designated in writing.

WINT reserves the right to approve, suspend, modify, or revoke chapter status at any time.

16. Modifications

WINT may update these Terms at any time without prior notice. Continued participation after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

17. Termination

WINT reserves the right to suspend or terminate membership access at any time, with or without notice, for conduct deemed inappropriate, harmful, unlawful, or inconsistent with the mission of the community.

18. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, without regard to conflict of law principles.
